White Young Green wins university project

White Young Green has been appointed to provide design services for a £13 million extension to the chemistry laboratory of the University Manchester. The practice’s Manchester office was awarded the commission as part of its involvement in a framework agreement with the university. It is one of a number of major education-section commissions being handled by the firm. The new building will provide 3000 m2 of additional floor space and roof-level plant room.

More refrigerant bans possible, says government

The government could tighten up the rules that restrict the use of global warming refrigerant gases including speeding up phase-out programmes and introducing new bans, according to a spokesman from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).
