Following recent research reporting that the number of office workers employed past retirement age is set to double within a decade, Thorn Lighting has sponsored a study into how lighting could help make the workplace a better and healthier setting for the aging worker.
The study recommends that the lit office environment could be enhanced by focusing on several inclusive design principles.
• Increasing the spectrum of light provided for added visual and non-visual functionality.
• Varying light qualities through daily programmes to create an emotional and psychological link between our bodies and the time of day.
• Providing end users with intuitive control over their own lighting, allowing office workers to meet their individual ergonomic needs.
