BCIA Award winners recognised at annual event

The Building Controls Industry Association (BCIA) Awards 2018 took place on 10th May in Birmingham. BCIA president Jon Belfield commented: “It was a wonderful occasion to celebrate the achievements of the industry’s finest. I would like to offer my congratulations to all of the winners and thank all of the sponsors and media partners for their continued support.”

Winners included Chartwell Controls for Independent Controls and BEMS Installer of the Year. Miles Moss of Detail Design Engineering was recognised as Engineer of the Year for his customer service skills and willingness to go the extra mile. Student of the Year 2018 is Greg Smith of E.ON Control Solutions after demonstrating his great communication skills and successful building controls achievements during his apprenticeship.

This year’s Energy Management Award went to Portal Building Controls for its work on the London School of Economics energy refit which saved the client £230,000 per year in energy costs.

The BCIA gave its Outstanding Contribution Award to Alan Braybrook of Sontay. On handing over the Award, Belfield commented: “I am delighted to present this award to Alan; he has dedicated his entire working life to the HVAC sector, rising through the ranks to being instrumental in transforming the focus of Sontay onto the international stage.”
