BAA selects team for early stages of Heathrow East proposal

BAA has announced the team for the Heathrow East proposal. Foster & Partners is the architect, with Hoare Lea & Partners as building-services engineer and Arup as structural engineer. Mace and Laing O’Rourke have been appointed to provide early-stage construction advice, and Doug & Smith has been selected to provide early-stage commercial advice. Mark Shirburne Davies, facilities solutions director with BAA, explains that these appointments were made swiftly as early-stage design and development work needed to be commenced at the end of February. ‘We received high-quality proposals from all the companies who we invited to tender. All the proposals were carefully assessed, and our decisions have been based on a number of key criteria. ‘The selected companies are all preferred BAA suppliers. Fosters and Hoare Lea are working on multiple projects across our seven airports, whilst Arup is currently working on Terminal 5.’
