Underfloor heating caters for restaurant extension

Underfloor heating supplied by Robbens adds to the discreet ambience of this new extension to Brasted’s Restaurant & Conference Centre near Norwich.
To meet increasing demand, Brasted’s Restaurant & Conference Centre near Norwich has been doubled in size with a 280 m2 extension. The single-storey extension is self-contained with its own kitchen, offices and toilet facilities. The entire extension is served by a Robbens underfloor heating system, recommended by Doug Halifax of installer D. Halifax Plumbing & Heating. Doug Halifax explains, ‘The invisibility of the Robbens system ensures both comfort and safety. There are no radiators to be knocked and damaged. No concealed joints makes for easy maintenance, and overall use of the space is also improved. Tables can be position wherever they are required, and all of the wall space is available for decoration.’ The extension has a floating floor with a layer of pre-grooved insulation to prevent downward heat transfer. Loops of multi-layer aluminium and pEX pipework are clipped into pre-cut channels, with aluminium sheets over the pipes to achieve even heat distribution. The final floor finish is carpet tiles, with a special slate on the dance floor.
