Membership grows in successful year for CIBSE

CIBSE reports a successful 2006, with membership now exceeding 18 000 — marking a significant achievement in the recruitment and retention of members from the building-services industry. The rise in membership reflects an ongoing commitment by the institution to ensure it represents and serves its existing members to a high standard, while continually taking advantage of new ways to boost numbers. The launch of CIBSE’s register of low-carbon consultants and the professional learning courses have also contributed to the institution’s success. Many courses were fully booked. Sales of CIBSE publications rose consistently during the year, with many buyers using the online bookshop. Particularly popular were publications in ‘The knowledge series’, including subjects such as ‘Understanding controls’, ‘Making buildings work’, the ‘TM22 energy assessment and reporting methodology’ and ‘Guide A: environmental design’
