Design service helps exploit solar energy

panel
Applied Energy offers a design application service for the Stiebel Eltron range of solar systems for generating hot water that can be used to help supply central heating and domestic hot water. The service aims to maximise efficiency and ensure that the full benefits of solar thermal heating are realised through SAP and the latest Part L.These solar collectors exploit both visible and infra-red light from the Sun with a thermal efficiency of over 80%. Approval for building control has been simplified with the provision of PPS-22, the planning policy statement from the Government, which requires building controllers to weight in favour of carbon-saving benefits when considering planning applications for solar collectors. There is a range of solar collectors, and the energy gathered is stored in an SSB upright cylinder in the loft. The cylinder has separate connection options for a solar heating systems, condensing boiler, electric booster heater or heat pump — providing a meeting point for all these energy systems.

New procurement rules for NHS suppliers

New procurement rules mean NHS suppliers will need to demonstrate their green credentials so the NHS can achieve its target of becoming net zero for directly-controlled emissions by 2040, with an ambition to reach an 80% reduction in its carbon emissions between 2028 to 2032.
