Waterloo is the prescription for hospital’s air-distribution
The air-distribution requirements for the new University College Hospital in London are served by a range of equipment from Waterloo Air Products.
The air-distribution requirements for a 2-phase £250 million project for University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) have been met with equipment from Waterloo Air Products. UCLH comprises seven hospital sites and is one of the largest trusts in the NHS. It is consolidating services from a number of different sites as part of a major rebuilding programme to update its provision of healthcare. Phase 1 saw services from Cecil Fleming House and the Rosenheim wing and a number of inpatient and outpatient services at The Middlesex Hospital sites transfer to the new University College Hospital (UCH). Under Phase 2, maternity services provided at Elizabeth Garrett Anderson & Obstetric Hospital (EGA) will be provided in the new EGA Wing adjacent to UCH. This latest project is a 5-storey building with two basement levels. Efficient ventilation and air distribution was a key requirement of the design. Waterloo was selected to supply a range of products, including continuous slot diffusers, Laminair flow panels, linear bar grilles, egg crate grilles, supply and extract valves and standard louvres and penthouses. Waterloo worked closely with BCJV (a joint-venture company comprising AMEC and Balfour Beatty) to ensure exact selection of products and deliveries. Waterloo provided a dedicated engineer to work with BCJV engineers and the ductwork contractor on all standard and non-standard design aspects. The company also provided full technical schedules and drawing backup to help make the project run as smoothly as possible.
