Demand grows for Lumicon’s luminaire disposal service

Lumicon
Lumicon handles the majority of discarded luminaires entering the waste stream in the UK, according to the Environment Agency.

Lumicon, which specialises in recycling luminaires, has reported significant growth in the number of organisations using its recycling services — both requesting advice and sending luminaries for recycling.

Director Ernest Magog says, ‘Since the WEEE Directive was implemented, end users and contractors have been getting to grips with the implications of the legislation and exploring different ways of addressing their obligations. It has now become clear that accredited compliance schemes represent the most cost-effective solution, and this is reflected in the upsurge of activity we have seen recently.

Lumicon acts for many different lighting manufacturers and can take end-to-end responsibility for the compliant disposal of luminaires, backed by a comprehensive audit trail.
