SPC reaches new heights

S&P Coil Products
Contributing to a warm welcome to the new building at the summit of Mount Snowdon are SPC trench heaters and air curtains.

Among the highest services in the UK, in the Hafod Eryi at the top of Mount Snowdon, is heating equipment from S&P Coil Products. The new summit building replaces one once described by Prince Charles as ‘the highest slum in Wales’.

With the wet and windy conditions associated with the mountain’s summit, where winds can reach 240 km/h and annual rainfall is over 5 m, the designers of the heating system had to ensure windows would be free of condensation. This is achieved using Minib T50 trench heaters, said to be the shallowest trench heaters in the world.

Airdor Elite air curtains help maintain conditions in the summit cafe, and provide visitors with a quick burst of warm air as they walk into the visitor centre from harsh conditions outside.
