Two Potterton Eurocondense 200 kW condensing boilers installed in a modular operation provide energy-efficient underfloor heating for Marden City Learning Centre in North Tyneside.
As part of its remit to reduce carbon-dioxide levels, North Tyneside Metropolitan Council has installed modular boiler plant to provide heating for Marden City Learning Centre. A 7-zone underfloor heating system is served by two Eurocondense Plus 200 kW floor-standing condensing boilers from Potterton Commercial. Mechanical co-ordinator John Humberstone explains, ‘By installing a modular arrangement for high load requirements, both boilers can operate effectively, whereas for base loads, the control system can fluctuate boiler usage to obtain the best performance, whilst ensuring both boilers are used for a similar amount of hours to keep maintenance costs to a minimum.’ Installed in a purpose-built boiler room, the Eurocondense Plus boilers provide enough heat to cope with the warm-up load of the building. With the return temperature kept to a minimum, they can condense to achieve optimum performance and reduce fuel costs.
