Cleaning central-heating systems to boost efficiency

Cleaner central heating systems — Sentinel’s Jetflush Junior power-flushing machine and the system filter to remove magnetic and non-magnetic debris.
Sentinel has introduced two products to remove debris from wet heating systems so that they can operate at optimum efficiency. One is a system filter that removes both magnetic and non-magnetic debris from a domestic heating system. The other is a lightweight Jetflush Junior power-flushing machine, a smaller brother of its popular Jetflush 4 machine. Research by GasTEC has showed that sludge build up in radiators in a normal domestic heating system can reduce their effectiveness by up to 15%. In addition, this research says that proper cleaning up a system using a chemical additive to break up sludge deposits combined with a power flush of the system will result in greater uniformity of radiator temperature and reduce the risk of system imbalance. This should increase boiler efficiency by 2%, which could take the efficiency of a SEDBUK B-rated boiler into the A-rated sector.
