Gent launches hybrid wireless fire system
Gent by Honeywell has launched its first wireless fire-detection system. Called Plexus, it incorporates technology to offer the ultimate level of integration and user confidence. The system provides the flexibility of wired and wireless devices for projects where building constraints prohibit the use of cables and disruption to the buildings or activity in them needs to be minimised.
The radio technology used was developed for the petro-chemical industry and offers a reliable and resilient method of wireless communication. Every device on the radio loop can relay its own signal as well as signals from other devices nearby.
A hybrid system can incorporate up to 10 radio-loop transceivers, each acting as a gateway between the wired and the wireless system. Wireless devices using the same addressing and labelling structure as the wired loop. Wireless parameters such as battery life, device type and device status are reported to the main Vigilon panel so the full system can be managed from a single point.
The system supports call points, sounders, strobes and a comprehensive range of sensors incorporating Gent’s multi-functional S-Quad technology.
