Comprehensive control of lighting in this new headquarters of Marks & Spencer is provided by mainsborne signalling in a system installed by Simmtronic.
Mainsborne signalling for the lighting-control system in the new headquarters of Marks & Spencer in London has simplified installation in what is a conventionally wired building. Simmtronic installed the complete lighting-control system, having already fulfilled the lighting-controls contract on the shell and core. The consultants elected to have mainsborne signalling on this dramatic 10-storey building. The SPECS3 system combined energy-efficient, variable-daylight linking and occupancy control driven by over 1300 lighting-control modules. Presence-based control is employed throughout the main open-plan areas, with energy-saving photocell dimming control on perimeter lights responding to daylight penetration. Meeting rooms have scene-setting functions, and presence detection is used to indicate occupancy/availability of each room.
