Hoval launches upgrade range of packaged wood-pellet boilers

Hoval, biomass boiler, renewable energy

Hoval has launched an upgraded version of its STU range of wood-pellet boilers, with a plug-and-pay skid-mounted configuration incorporating the fully wired and factory-tested PLC-based FlameTronix touchscreen control system. This control system optimises the combustion of wood pellets to achieve an efficiency of 92% and particulate emissions of less than 5 mg/MJ, according to independent tests in April 2012.

The control system can be monitored over the Internet, and the on-board controls are compatible with commonly used protocols for building-management systems.

The standardised skid-mounted design includes pumps, fans and fuel-delivery augers with variable-speed drives. Other features of these UK-made boilers are automatic ignition and automatic de-ashing.

STU boilers are available with outputs from 150 to 975 kW and supported by a comprehensive design and installation service for fuel storage and buffer vessels.
