BACnet capability for smart power analysers

Carlo Gavazzi, BACnet power analyser

Carlo Gavazzi has extended the networking options for its smart power analysers with the introduction of a communications module providing BACnet MS/TP over RS485. This communication module is the latest option for the company’s WM30 and WM40 family of smart power analysers, providing interoperability with many small and inexpensive devices via this popular building-automation protocol.

BACnet MS/TP module is available for both the WM30 and WM40 and, for the latter, optionally with on-board memory for load profiling for logging data and events. These meters have a modular sandwich-style design that provides up to 70% more depth behind the panel. Users snap additional features to the rear of the meter by stacking and securing optional output and communication modules.

BACnet MS/TP provides new options for installations, in addition to existing BACnet IP, Ethernet TCP/IP and serial port options.

Using MS/TP over EIA-485 enables small local networks to be configured up to 1200 m long using shielded twisted-pair cabling.

An auxiliary Ethernet port is included as standard for programming with WM3040Soft.
