Flexible ductwork

The Association of Ductwork Contractors & Allied Services has developed a guide to flexible ducts. It is designed to raise the level of ductwork-system installation and building performance and provides information on legislation, standards and guidance for those in the ventilation industry.

Philip Johnson, the association’s chairman, explains that the preparation of such a guide was seen as essential for the industry because of confusion surrounding the legal requirements and recommended practice.

Among frequently asked questions are the following.

• What guidance should I take into account when specifying flexible ductwork?

• What reaction-to-fire standards apply to flexible ductwork?

• How do I check that flexible ductwork from Asia will be of the right size and be strong enough?
