Castle Mall Shopping Centre in Norwich has become the first UK project to use Daikin water-cooled VRV . It was supplied by Space Airconditioning.
The first Daikin water-cooled VRV-WII air-conditioning system in the UK has been installed by Adcock Refrigeration. The 10 hp system serves the administration block of the Castle Mall Shopping Centre in Norwich and was supplied and commissioned by Space Airconditioning. Taking advantage of the building’s existing central-plant water loop, the compact and lightweight heat-pump condensing unit was installed in the roof void. The ducted fan-coil units are also mounted in the roof void, enabling the project to be completed with minimal disruption to staff and shoppers Adrian Bonfield of Adcock Refrigeration says, ‘The project went without any hitches. We were grateful to Space Air’s after-sales engineers who made courtesy site visits to offer us technical support with this relatively new product. VRV-WII operates on R410A and achieves a cooling COP of 4.53 and a heating COP of 5.21. It is included on the Carbon Trust’s Energy Technologies List.
