Heatrae Sadia develops BIM water-heater objects

Heatrae Sadia has begun creating BIM (building information modelling) objects of its water-heating products, starting with its Megaflo eco unvented hot-water cylinder. The BIM objects are available from the company’s web site, and architects and specifiers can simply drag and drop them into building designs and also access the product information they require.

John Cockburn, head of marketing, says, ‘At the moment, the focus has majored on construction-industry manufacturers, with only a small number of BIM objects available. We believe the investment in our products with the water-heater sector will give us a competitive edge. Ultimately, having BIM objects available could soon make a difference to whether a manufacturer’s products are specified or not — especially on large projects.’
