Mauro Manfredi, marketing and sales manager of Caleffi, which produces the Altecnic HIUs, receives the energy-efficiency award at the HVAC Easyfairs.

Altecnic has won a major European award for the energy-efficiency capabilities of its SATK heat-interface units. The 2013 HVAC Efficiency Award at the HVAC Easyfairs in Brussels recognised the outstanding contribution of these units to the area of renewable energy and rational use of energy.

These heat-interface units incorporate electronic valves that respond quickly to changes in primary-system pressure and demand to ensure stable DHW temperature. The valves constantly monitor the temperature of the heat exchanger and keep them ready to produce DHW when required but isolating it when the unit is up to temperature.

Units can also be set to deliver a specific flow temperature for heating or modulate the flow temperature based on return temperature.

A pump bypass and differential-pressure switch eliminate the need for a bypass in the heating system itself, enabling TRVs to be installed on all radiators.

Altecnic’s national specification manager in the UK Neil Parry said, ‘Europe is currently the driving force in energy-efficient technology, and it is fantastic that our manufacturing partner has won this very prestigious award.’
