Building-services students experience the comfort of Oventrop

Boiler-based heating and DHW systems for new buildings at Central Sussex College are controlled and regulated by a range of Oventrop valves and controls.

Separate heating systems for each floor of two new buildings at Central Sussex College (formerly Crawley College) have all boiler and ancillary controls, as well as system regulating and commissioning valves, supplied by Oventrop. Each building is five-storeys high, and each floor of each building has its own dedicated boiler in a ground-floor plantroom. This college offers courses from bricklaying to catering and hairdressing to plumbing. The £3.3 million phase 1 Longley Building accommodates students on plumbing, gas and electrical-installation courses and allows tutors to deliver industry standard training in modern workshops. Classrooms and a tall atrium area have simulated 3-storey houses built into the side walls, where students can plumb up a complete heating system, including the boilers. There are also classrooms with plywood walls, enabling electrical distribution boards to be constructed. The £5.3 million phase 2 building comprises 14 modern classrooms, three IT rooms, and resource rooms. The heating system is served from a centralised gas-fired boiler plant with primary pumped variable-temperature heating circuits and a constant-temperature heating circuit — all controlled by Oventrop valves. DHW services are supplied via two plate heat exchangers.
