Electricity from waste site served by Elta fans
Ventilation fans supplied by Elta for an energy-from waste facility near Lincoln include six SREC heat-recovery units. Each unit incorporates a plate heat exchanger than can recover up to 65% of the heat in the exhaust and transfer it to fresh incoming air. This recently completed facility at North Hykeham significantly reduces the amount of non-recyclable waste that Lincolnshire County Council sends to landfill.
Elta also supplied various other fans for the project. They include aluminium long-cased SmokeVent fans, Revolution long-cased fans, backward curved inline units, long-cased fans in aluminium and GRP and a carbon-filled ATEX fan.
The fans were made at Elta’s factory at Kingswinford and delivered to site for installation by contractor NG Bailey.
The site is run by FCC Environment. The site can handle about 150 000 t per year of residual household and commercial waste and is used to produce steam for generating 11 MW of electricity for sale to the National Grid.
