Gilberts’ offers CFD testing of ventilation designs

Gilberts of Blackpool, natural ventilation, CFD

Gilberts of Blackpool offers a CFD (computational fluid dynamics) service to model air-distribution systems, not just to ensure regulatory compliance but also that the proposed scheme will deliver the expected performance in terms of air movement and thermal requirements.

Gilberts’ senior technical manager Roy Jones explains, ‘CFD establishes the detailed ventilation performance and thermal analysis of the ventilation system employed, showing how the appropriate regulations are met and that the ventilation system operates as intended — be it the warmest summer or coldest winter day.

‘We use it alongside our bespoke software for natural ventilation solutions, developed in partnership with the University of Strathclyde, which also addresses air movement and flow simulation.

‘This combination eliminates the guesswork. When our virtual testing services are utilised, clients get the reassurance that, as far as possible, any conventional or natural-ventilation strategy we propose will meet expectations when properly installed and operated.’

All Gilberts’ natural-ventilation solutions are engineered to order.
