The CIBSE ASHRAE graduate of the year

CIBSE, ASHRAE, graduate of the year, Emila Targonska

The CIBSE ASHRAE graduate of the year for 2014 is Emilia Targonska (centre) of Hoare Lea. She will be travelling to the ASHRAE winter conference in Chicago and is pictured with CIBSE president Peter Kinsella and ASHRAE president Tom Phoenix. She was one of eight finalists.

Peter Kinsella, said, ‘Over the year I have been very impressed by the professional attitude, obvious talent and presentation skills of these graduates. They clearly have the skills and the potential to become the leaders of tomorrow.’

The finalists each made a 5-minute presentation on the topic ‘How is technology transforming the way we, as engineers, work?’.

Prior to starting an MSc course at Loughborough University, Emilia worked alongside her father in Poland on the design of HVAC systems for developments in Poland. Her presentation drew on her exposure to building-services engineering from a young age, using calculation aids such as slide rules and 4-figure tables. She joined Hoare Lea’s London office in September 2014.
