Golf club converts to biomass boilers
This installation of two biomass boilers from Windhager is helping Taunton & Pickeridge Golf Club to reduce its energy costs. The Somerset golf club is run by its members, who jointly made the decision to convert the previous oil-fired heating system to biomass.
The new system comprises a 120 kW wood-pellet BioWin Excel Kaskade system with a 1500 l AccuWin accumulator tank. The system was installed by Orin Green Energy, which has specialist knowledge of Windhager products.
The installation qualifies for the Government’s Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI), which amounts to £12 200 a year at current energy consumption. The previous oil consumption was 15 000 l a year.
The initial loan for the installation will be paid back within five years, and the subsequent annual surplus will be £22 600.
