Atag boilers guarantee warm welcome at Bristol Lido

Atag commercial boiler, space heating
Open all year, even when it snows — Bristol Lido.

A constant battle to keep boiler systems operating at Bristol Lido is no longer — following the replacement of the four old boilers with two Atag XL110 commercial boilers. Bristol Lido dates back to 1849 and is one of the oldest surviving in the UK, with swimming all year round.

After a chequered history, the revamped and restored lido re-opened in December 2008 and has become a successful venue.

Installed by Octagon Heating Services, the new boilers have a combined output of 190 kW and will supply domestic hot water and heating for the restaurant, pool and spa.

With space being at a premium and low ceilings in the plant room, the 2.7 m2 footprint of the new boilers was an important feature.

A special Sigram stainless-steel condensing/pressure system flue arrangement was designed and installed by The Chimney Centre of Bristol.

Facilities include a poolside restaurant, voted as runner-up in The Observer food monthly awards for UK best restaurant. There is a poolside bar serving breakfast, tapas, afternoon tea, wines, beers and the lido’s own ale.

There is a 24 m swimming pool and a space with six treatment rooms. There is a Jacuzzi overlooking the pool and indoor sauna and steam room.
