Intelligent Solutions provides lighting ambience for office staff

GIA Lighting Design has applied The Intelligent Solutions lighting-management system to the lighting design strategy for the offices of Gordon Ingram Associates.
Lighting that mimics the effect of daylight by varying its colour temperature during the day has been devised by GIA Lighting Design for the offices of chartered surveyors Gordon Ingram Associates. The lighting philosophy in the main working space relies on The Intelligent Solutions lighting-management system. General lighting for the main office area is supplied by compact fluorescent luminaires using two 32 W lamps. One lamp is cool white and the other is warm white. Each lamp is controlled separately and by adjusting the ratios between them, it is possible to mimic the colour-temperature shift occurring in natural daylight. Though the system does not mimic actual colour temperatures, it follows the philosophy of varying colour temperature during the day. The general office space has PIR sensors so that if there are only a few people in the space, the lighting in their vicinity will remain on. In areas where no movement is detected, the lighting will time off. Perimeter lighting remains on, giving the space a friendly, occupied feel while minimising energy consumption.
