New Quartzelec office wins health contract

The recently opened regional office in Birmingham of electrical-engineering firm Quartzelec is already delivering its first major order. It is a £1.2 million M&E contract for the new, technically advanced St Luke’s health facility in Market Harborough.

The project has an overall value of £7.8 million and is being led by Morgan Sindall as main contractor. Graham George, Quartzelec’s newly appointed manager, will work with an initial team of at least six to oversee this project. The number is expected to increase to at least 20 working on site at the height of the project.

Quartzelec’s work includes providing the required metered utilities, heating, cooling and ventilation services, above-ground drainage and the BMS and controls. Electrical work includes LV switchboard, all lighting installation and controls, general small-power installation, the structured wiring and fire-alarm installation. Solar panels are also included, as are CCTV, intercom, panic/personal attack, staff assistances and access-control systems.

Quartzelec’s contracting operation is based in Manchester, and the company opened a Leeds office early in 2015.

Martin Broughton, general manager at Manchester, ‘For the third consecutive year, we have seen sales and delivery requirements for our building-services and electrical-contracting business across the UK increase by well over 50% to more than £24 million.’
