Stokvis plate heat exchanger solves hot-water crisis for hotel in Devon

Stokvis, boiiler, plate heat exchanger, DHW

A Stokvis Econoplate plate heat exchanger served by a recently installed biomass boiler provides domestic hot water for a hotel in Devon. The new equipment was installed following the failure of an oil-fired water heater at Dartington Hall near Totnes, part of the historic Dartington Hall Trust estate.

The site does not have mains gas, so when the old water heater failed during a busy holiday period, the building-services manage contacted Sherwoods Mechanical & Electrical of nearby Newton Abbot to rapidly remedy the situation.

The plate heat exchanger was supplied with a transfer pump and a 500 l stainless-steel buffer to ensure peak demands can be met throughout the year.
