Controlling false alarms in care homes

Advanced Electronics, fire alarm, false alarm, AlarmCare

The potential of automatic fire systems to reduce false alarms in the care-home and social-care industry is explained in a document from Advanced Electronics that outlines the features of its AlarmCalm FAM upgrade and its key components. It also provides an overview of areas in care homes where different false-alarm strategies may be required — based on risk, building design and resident needs.

AlarmCare is a total package with enhanced firmware, comprehensive configuration software for its fire systems and AlarmCare buttons for intelligent alarm acknowledgement. It provides total and easily managed control over alarm-verification periods and investigation delays to outputs.

A site can be divided into false-alarm management zones (up to 200 per panel or 40 000 per network). By default, these zones match fire zones, but they can be set up independently to cover multiple zones and points or individual points. The use of building areas make even complicated cause-and-effect easy to set up.
