An education in underfloor heating

Velta
The ability of Velta’s Classic 20 underfloor heating system to be cast into the floor slab was one of the reasons for its use in five schools in the north-east of England.
Velta underfloor heating being installed in the north-east of England will serve an area of 27 000 m2 in five schools. These new schools are in Redcar and Cleveland, and M&E contractor NG Bailey worked with consultants White Young Green & Partners and main contractor Mowlem to specify the Velta Classic 20 system for this PFI project. A particular feature of this system is that it is cast into the main concrete slab rather than requiring an additional screed. Velta has worked within the tight programme of concrete-slab pours and then been out of the way for other internal trades. The schools include three multi-storey secondary schools/colleges and two single-storey primary schools.
