Sports centre green roof is topped out

Sutcliffe Park

The unusual topping-out ceremony of a new indoor multi-sports centre at Sutcliffe Park for the Royal Borough of Greenwich saw wild-flower seeds being scattered on the green roof by the chair and secretary of the Friends of Sutcliffe Park, Cllr Denise Hyland and Cllr Denise Scott-McDonald.

Built next to the existing outdoor athletics track, the new centre will have extensive first-class facilities, including an indoor BMX/skatepark — the only indoor skate park for miles around.

The centre will provide a wide range of opportunities for sports participation for all, up to competition and elite level, and will enable activities in all types of weather.

The centre is planned to open in January 2018.
