EcoCooling enlarges the scope of evaporative cooling

Ecocooling
The EcoCooling range of evaporative coolers can deliver 100% fresh air to the interior of buildings with a temperature drop of 8 K.
EcoCooling has added side- and top-discharge evaporative coolers to its ECP range. They are designed for the commercial and industrial market to provide a simple, safe and low-cost cooling for people and processes. The new models can deliver up to 35 kW of cooling with a power consumption of 1 kW and have been developed for applications where roof installation is not an option. They can be installed at ground level or on the side of buildings, with air delivered by fabric or metal ducting. An axial fan provides up to 4 m3/s of cooled fresh air. Like other units in the range, the new models have integral thermostatic and humidity logic and can be linked to a building-management system. Alan Beresford, director of EcoCooling, explains, ‘Evaporative cooling has become a viable alternative to air conditioning, particular now energy costs are rising and forecast to rise further. At only 10% of the energy consumption of comparative refrigeration-based air-conditioning systems, there are both financial savings and carbon-emissions savings. It can be demonstrated that a single ECP cooler can produce an energy saving equivalent to over 10 000 kg of carbon dioxide.’
