Flowcon Energy Fit system comes to the UK with FloControl

FloControl

FloControl is offering the Flowcon Energy Fit system. It is a wireless system which continuously measures energy usage and monitors coil performance, adjusting the pressure independent control valve (PICV) to optimise coil performance.

The FlowCon SM PICV maintains the correct flow mechanically, irrespective of system pressure changes, guaranteeing that the flow only changes when demand requires, ensuring a longer actuator lifetime.

The pressure transducers measure upstream and downstream pressure allowing the BMS to reduce system pressures to save pump energy when the pressure drop is higher than the PICV’s requirements.

The Flowcon Intelligent Interface calculates the energy and displays the energy usage, temperature and pressure conditions on either an Android and iPhone mobile device via Bluetooth, for commissioning and troubleshooting, or through the BMS.

The system is fully customisable and allows selection of components that work best to optimise the application’s unique energy goals. The system will be launched in the UK in September 2018, complementing the innovative FlowCon PICV range. It is suitable for new build, refurbishment and simple to retrofit in existing buildings

More refrigerant bans possible, says government

The government could tighten up the rules that restrict the use of global warming refrigerant gases including speeding up phase-out programmes and introducing new bans, according to a spokesman from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).

Baxi research suggests schools strongly support heat decarbonisation

A survey conducted by Baxi of 200 state school estates managers, consultant engineers and M&E contractors has found that while enthusiasm for Net Zero and support for low carbon heating systems in schools is thriving, persistent barriers remain.
