As part of the refurbishment of the Great Western Hotel in London, services in bedrooms are activated when guests check in.
The refurbished Great Western Hotel at Paddington Station in London now has bedroom heating and air conditioing activated as the guest checks in. Integrated Control Systems installed a building-management system linked to a computerised front-of-house reservation system to introduce heating or cooling to a bedroom as soon as a guest has completed the paperwork at the reception desk. The design of the interface between the two systems formed part of a £375 000 contract awarded to Integrated Control Systems by Kvaerner Rashleigh Weatherfoil, contractor for the mechanical-services element of the refurbishment. Consultants were TML. The ICS system monitors and controls 400 fan-coil units in bedrooms across six blocks, 19 air-handling units, boilers, chillers, lifts, generators and public-health equipment. ICS designed a built 10 Form 4 motor-control panels.
