Accident on site leads to new career in health and safety

Colin Johnstone
Former accident statistic when he broke his ankle on site, Colin Johnstone is now health-and safety officer with WWW Electrical.
Having broken his ankle working on site last year, Colin Johnstone knows first hand the importance of health and safety in electrical contracting — which is why he has been appointed health-and-safety officer for WWW Electrical of Glasgow. He has completed a Level 3 SVQ in occupational health and safety and is responsible for preparing all the company’s safety plans, risk assessments and method statements. He has established a regular series of site visits to assess and address any potential health-and-safety hazards and ensure that all WWW operatives adhere to the company’s health-and-safety guidelines at all times. Colin Johnstone stresses that health and safety is not concerned with establishing a blame culture and is encouraging regular feedback from operatives on site.
