Hamworthy shows its paces at Stowmarket Leisure Centre

Hamworthy
Among new equipment supplied by Hamworthy Heating for Stowmarket Leisure Centre is this Dorchester SR-RS 40 room-sealed water heater.
New boilers and water-heating equipment supplied by Hamworthy Heating for Stowmarket Leisure Centre will provide heating and hot water for the complex, which is used by 520 000 people a year. Facilities include a large sports hall and gym, weight-training and fitness suites, a 25 m swimming pool, badminton courts and bowling rinks. Tom Peek, a consultant with NPS Property Consultants, specified a Dorchester DR-RS 40 room-sealed water heater and two Wessex ModuMax 250/500 condensing boilers. They were installed by Eyre Colchester into the existing plant rooms and linked to provide heating and hot water for the complex. The Dorchester room-sealed water heater was particularly suitable for the project because a conventional flue was impractical. It can supply a continuous output of 812 l/h of hot water heated by 44 K and has a storage capacity of 312 litres. Its fully automatic controls and volt-free contacts enabled it to be linked to the centre’s main BMS. The two ModuMax boilers have cascade controllers to sequence the modules. They each deliver 985 kW from a floor space of 1 m2. The installation has been completed with Hamworthy’s Masterflue MF — a modular, twin-walled, insulated flue specifically optimised for condensing and high-efficiency boiler applications. Constructed of stainless steel, it is designed for push-fit construction and has factory-fitted tri-lip silicone seals.
