Carrier launches light-commercial and residential air-conditioning products

The core product in a range of new products from Carrier for the light-commercial and residential markets is the Xpower 1:1 Silentech split system.
Carrier is targeting the residential and light-commercial markets for air conditioning with a range of 10 new products. Many more are promised. The core product in both sectors is the Xpower 1:1 Silentech split system using R410A. ‘Blended’ DC inverter technology achieves noise levels as low as 26 dB(A). These high-wall split-system heat-pump air conditioners are available in cooling/heating capacities from 0.9/0.9 to 4.0/5.8 kW. This inverter technology is said to achieve energy savings of up to 40% compared to non-inverter systems. Pulse-width and pulse-amplitude modulation are both used to ensure soft starts, low-ambient operation and efficiency at part load. For light-commercial applications, a high-static ducted unit is being introduced for DX systems under the Satellite name. These products use a new V-shaped coil with external static pressure up to 130 Pa. Units with cooling capacities from 5 to 13 kW are 285 mm deep. Units from 2.6 to 3.5 kW are only 220 mm deep. New products have been added to the Xpower split system and multi-split ranges. The 1:1 split system now includes the flat-fronted Sensations high-wall in capacities from 5 to 10 kW. There is also a redesigned console for floor or ceiling mounting with cooling capacities of 10 and 12 kW. The multi-split range has four new cooling-only inverter models from 4 to 7.5 kW and a new heat-pump 2:1 twin spilt system. A number of additional ducted indoor units are now matched to the system. The Air4Life allergy-protection air-filtration system used in many split systems has been enhanced. The 4-stage filtration process in the Silentech and Sensation units now includes a nano photo copper and a nano photo silver-ginseng filter in place of the photo-catalytic filter process. The photo copper filter destroys bacteria, and the nano silver filter provides anti-bacteria, anti-fungus and deodorising capabilities. The Sensation high-wall unit also incorporates a room ioniser.
