Advancing the science of ductwork — the National Science Learning Centre has exploited the space-saving features of Kingspan KoolDuct pre-insulated ductwork.
The space-saving qualities of Kingspan KoolDuct pre-insulated ducting have been used to good effect in the £9 million National Science Learning Centre based at the University of York. Funded by the Wellcome Trust, this centre has been designed to improve the teaching of science in schools, bringing back excitement and enthusiasm for the subject. 2500 m2 of KoolDuct was specified by National Design Consultancy and installed by H&C Moore. Otto Seeger of H&C Moore says, ‘This was the first time we have used KoolDuct, and we were delighted not only with the product but also the excellent customer relations we received form Kingspan Insulation. We have continued to use this pre-insulated ducting system for other projects of a similar nature.’ Unlike traditional sheet-metal ducting which needs to be lagged with insulation as a second operation, KoolDuct saves time by requiring only a single-fix operation and space by not requiring lagging.
