Intelligent buildings group launched

The first meeting of the recently formed Intelligent Buildings Group of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers is on 19 October at the Royal Society in London. Since the first management meeting in March, membership of the group has grown to over 600 people from 27 countries. A full programme of this free event, with eight presentations, is available on the web site below. Among the topics being covered are: • An approach to advanced design integration; • Past, present and future of intelligent buildings; • Briefing for good design. More refrigerant bans possible, says government

The government could tighten up the rules that restrict the use of global warming refrigerant gases including speeding up phase-out programmes and introducing new bans, according to a spokesman from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).
