Durapipe shows its capabilities for Beetham Tower

Durable pipework solutions that were quick to install have been achieved at Manchester’s Beetham Tower using plastics systems from Durapipe. Durapipe ABS pressure pipework, along with Friaphon and Akatherm drainage systems were specified as part of this £150 million development. It is 171 m high and includes a Hilton Hotel, a sky bar and residential apartments on 25 floors. The Friaphon system was specified for all drainage requirements across 43 floors throughout the hotel, residential bathrooms and Sky Bar in sizes of 110 and 160 mm. It was chosen for its sound-insulation capabilities to minimise noise from sanitary installations without further insulation. Durapipe ABS pipework was specified in sizes up to 250 mm for chilled-water systems serving hotel bedrooms from level 4 to 22. Akatherm in sizes from 110 to 200 mm was installed for all soil waste and rainwater roof drainage for the lower basement levels and main risers of the tower.
