Guide vanes increase thrust range of axial fans

fans
Adding guide vanes to axial fans has been found by ebm-papst to be very effective at increasing the throw of air into cold stores.
Trials by ebm-papst with guide vanes fitted to the discharge side of axial fans have doubled or tripled their thrust range — depending on the size of the fan. The company carried out these trials as part of investigations into the efficient cooling of cold storage areas, which require an airflow that permeates to all areas of the room. Adding a guide vane to a 350 mm-diameter fan increased its range from 10 to 22 m with almost no losses to air performance, efficiency or increase in noise. This solution allows for an even permeation of air into cold storage rooms, without the need to increase heat-exchanger surface or increase the air volume to be cooled. Other benefits have been found by increasing the throw of condensers, thus preventing hot air returning to the condenser.
