Viessmann acquires leading manufacturer of biomass boilers

Viessmann has added to its capabilities for utilising biomass with the acquisition of Mawera.
Viessmann has expanded its capabilities in the market for biomass-fuelled boiler and CHP with the acquisition of Austrian manufacturer Mawera. This company has a turnover of E30 million and has been awarded prizes for innovation by the Austrian and Bavarian state governments. Mawera products cover the entire biomass market and include burners for logs, chip. pellet, wood waste and biomass. It also makes fuel preparation, storage and filling solutions. Mawera will become the biomass centre of excellence for the Viessmann group, which can now offer biomass boilers and other products from 5 kW to solutions for small power stations up to 13 MW. Stewart Purchase, managing director of Viessmann UK, comments, ‘Biomass is an important and growing option in the renewable-energy tool kit, and the acquisition of Mawera, a European technology leader, gives us a chance to offer a biomass solution in the UK for applications from homes through to large commercial and public building complexes.’
