Driving the market for variable-speed drives, Danfoss (represented by John Martin, left) and Cylon (represented by Alan Long) have signed an agreement for Danfoss VLT HVAC drives to be integrated into Cylon BEMSs.
Danfoss and Cylon Controls have signed an agreement that will see the Danfoss VLT HVAC drive integrated into Cylon’s Unitron UC32 building and energy management system. Cylon will also sell this drive through its network of 80 approved system integrators. Advances in variable-speed drives (VSDs) over the last 10 years have reached the point that it is rare for a major building project not to have full VSD control of the HVAC system linked to the BEMS. Fans and pumps seldom operate beyond 75% capacity. Even at this operating level, energy consumption is reduced by 42% using a VSD. Halving the speed of a fan or pump reduces energy consumption by 87.5%. Alan Long, sales director with Cylon Controls, says, ‘Danfoss and Cylon products are very similar in design philosophy in that they both have smart energy control built in. This agreement will allow our customers easily to order a single solution combining best-in-class BEMS with the world’s leading drives.’
