Thermography enables quality of insulation to be assessed

Flir
By automatically comparing infra-red images of the inside and outside of a building, a new camera fromFlir enables the quality of the insulation to be assessed.
A new infra-red camera from Flir Systems comes as standard with alarms for insulation, relative humidity and dewpoint. The insulation alarm in the Thermacam B640 camera enables a user examining a building to determine immediately whether or not it is well insulated. All that is required is for a temperature measurement of the outside face of the wall to be taken and a critical surface temperature factor applied. When the temperature is then taken of the inside face of the same wall, this feature will calculate which areas are inadequately insulated and highlight them in an ‘alarm’ colour on the infrared image.
