Floor boxes go Baroque

Mitchell Gallery
Customised Mita electrical equipment provides aesthetic solutions for the refurbishment of Glasgow’s Mitchell Library.
To harmonise with the oak parquet in the main hall of the Mitchell Library in Glasgow, MITA has supplied customised floor boxes with brass edges. 24 of these floor boxes, adapted from MITA’s Thorsman range, are set into the floor of the hall, which has been transformed into a new exhibition space. The floor boxes carry the hall’s segregated power, Cat 5e data and communications cables. Later phases in this refurbishment project will require underfloor track systems, also being specially made by MITA. The library was completed in 1911. It is an Edwardian Baroque building with a marble and stone staircase and huge reading rooms with elaborate joinery and plasterwork.
