Scunthorpe factory benefits from evaporative cooling
Indoor temperatures no longer reach 35°C in the Scunthorpe of ColepCCL following the installation of a Breezair evaporative cooling system from Seeley International. The system has reduced temperatures to 8 K below ambient temperature for the company, which is Europe’s largest manufacturer of personal care, cosmetics and over-the-counter medicated and household-care products. The company is also active in metal and plastic packaging. Four Breezair coolers were specified by CoSaf Environments to provide localised cooling for the 350 staff in three production areas. making products for multi-national brand owners. Two TBA industrial air coolers were installed into the side wall of the building to deliver cooled fresh air via centralised ductwork and dropping vertically to a series of air diffusers in the rotary aerosol line. Another pair of RPX coolers were installed to providing cooling to four production lines via ducting and diffusers or via a large porous fabric sock. The system is controlled by a Seeley industrial wall controller, which can identify any faulty controller in a group and provide comprehensive fault diagnostics. Mark Gibson, maintenance manager with ColepCCL, says, ‘Breezair evaporative cooling is cost effective to install and run. It provides lots of cool, fresh air and at the same time is ecologically attractive to use as it uses very little energy and emits no greenhouse gases or carbon products.’
