Micro CHP units can run on biofuels

EC Power, which supplies micro combined-heat-and-power systems, has announced that its range of engines will run on renewable biofuels. The 13 kW(e) model can run on biogas and the 17 kW(e) diesel unit can run on 100% biodiesel. The company’s research-and-development department in Denmark has worked closely with engine suppliers and applied the data gained from more than a million operating hours to arrive at the current design. For the gas engine, the methane content must be at least 70% and sulphur should not exceed 1%. The diesel unit will run on B100 biodiesel.
