Oventrop helps to provide individual room services for prestigious Dublin hotel refurbishment

The installation and commissioning of heating and cooling systems in Dublin’s Shelbourne Hotel has been speeded up using Oventrop Cocon 4 control valves for fan-coil units.
To simplify and speed installation and commission of heating and cooling systems at The Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin, over a thousand Oventrop Cocon 4 valves for fan-coil units were used by contractor Mercury Engineering. This historic Georgian hotel was established in 1824 and has recently undergone a 2-year refurbishment programme. It is a 5-star hotel with 265 bedrooms, including 19 suites, over its eight floors. It also has 13 meeting and event suites, ranging from 10 to 360 people in the Great Room ballroom. All guest rooms and public areas have locally controlled air conditioning with fan-coil units in ceiling voids above room lobbies or as floor-standing units in the space. All are fitted with Cocon 4 control valves to control room temperature by changing the share of water to the terminal unit. Cocon 4 valves have 40 mm centres are can also be used for hydronic balancing using the double-regulating function whilst measuring pressure drop across the fixed orifice and relating it to flow charts. With six functions in a compact single valve, installation times can be reduced by as much as 25%. A range of Oventrop electro-thermal and electro-motive actuators can provide on/off, proportional or 3-point control, with EIB and LON actuators available for connecting to networked control systems. Consulting engineers were Varming VMRA of Dublin.
