Copeland Compressors has named Calorex Heat Pumps as its manufacturer of the year. The award is for outstanding performance across a broad business spectrum. The award caps a year for Calorex that saw this energy specialist smash through the million kWh mark of measured ground-source heat-pump performance data by extending its award-winning range of units. Of the available micro-renewable energy technologies for homes, ground-source heat pumps arguably offer the most affordable heating and low carbon-dioxide emissions. Calorex doubled the size of its in-house engineering department in 2007 and increased manufacturing capacity by 20% last summer. Its ground-source heat pumps offer outputs up to 12 kW and can generate DHW at up to 65°C without supplementary electric resistance heating.
